Lab 6 - Proportional Circle Map

Adobe Illustrator is kicking my gluteus maximus but I am slowly learning how to manuveur around it. Actually, I am surprise that I was able to produce this lab assignment - proud of myself.

Choropleth Map by State

You are observing a Thematic Choropleth map designed using the Lambert Conformal Conic Projection. After many days of trials & errors, I decided to use the above projection because of its north - south orientation. This projection maintains shape giving the map a realistic look. Since this map is a lab presentation and the data is "unipolar", I opted to "class" the data using a Five Class Natural Break classification. The data shows percentage change in population by state. I divided it into five groups and reported to the nearest tenth of a percent.

Choropleth Map by Division

The basic design of this map is the same as the one above - same projection. This map shows percentage change of population by division. I aggregated my data at the division level and used division "means" to organized and classified my data into Five Equal Interval Classes. Again, lots of trials & errors.
